Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

Explore helpful answers to some of the most common questions about cooking with and caring for Ferro.

► Does Ferro need seasoning?

No. Optional seasoning can help maintain the cooking surface, but super nitrided carbon steel naturally develops a patina over time through regular cooking.

► Why is my pan changing colour?

The darker appearance is a natural patina. This unique finish develops over time, improves cooking performance, and is a normal characteristic of carbon steel cookware.

► Is Ferro dishwasher safe?

No. Never place your Ferro cookware in the dishwasher. Doing so can strip the seasoning and increase the chance of rust.

► Can I use metal utensils with Ferro?

Yes, the surface won’t get scratched or damaged when using metal utensils.

► Can I cook acidic foods in Ferro?

Yes, but we recommend allowing the patina to develop during the first 30 days before regularly cooking acidic foods. Highly acidic foods should not be cooked for prolonged periods, such as in slow braises, or left sitting in the pan.

► Why does Ferro get better with use?

As you cook, a natural patina develops on the surface. This evolving layer enhances food release over time, allowing the cookware’s performance to improve with regular use.
